BIBLE DAY IN DON BOSCO VOCATIONAL CENTER TOUL KORK
Eighteen
Catholic and catechumen girls in Don Bosco Center kept very busy during the
whole month of April pouring
over a set of over thirty Bible Quotes, duly prepared for them, to entrust to
memory.
Life is all in front of them and, the Sisters
hope that, in the Word of God they will find that Christ is truly the Way, the
Truth and the Life, giving strength and wisdom in difficulties, courage to
overcome obstacles, trials and the ever present menace of a life without
meaning.
The interest was high so high that eleven
non-Catholic girls joined the enterprise and formed a second group.
Saturday 6th May - Feast of St.
Domenic Savio - was set for the competition. Sr. My Hanh organized and led the
proceedings in a truly expert manner and the participation of all other
resident students gave luster to the meeting and boosted everyone’s courage.
Each girl rendered two quotes and explained
the meaning of a third one. Prizes were given to all and the winners chose
their prizes from those prepared for them.
When asked to choose the Gospel verses that
they love most and give the reason for their choice, most of the non-Catholic
girls chose the verses: on forgiveness (Mt
6:14-15); love your enemy (Mt 5:43-44) and "don't be afraid" (Is
41:10)
The competition-celebration was closed with
much joy as each one carried in her heart the Word of God that touched them on
this special moment.
The
Catholic girls instead enjoyed the explanation of each other on different
verses, and they experienced how the Holy Spirit works in each one that the
Word of God could touch the heart of each one differently, and so we need to be
open to listen to all.
