“A Salesian Educator of Today”

Teacher’s Seminar/Workshop in Cambodia
Teachers Seminar on “A Salesian Educator of Today” was organized by the Youth Ministry Team at Don Bosco High School Teuk Thla on September 16 and 17, 2019. The resource persons are our own sisters together with the lay collaborators. A total of 97 teachers from our four schools participated. Sr. Amanda, the vice Provincial in her welcome talk exhorted the teachers to be open to the ever changing trends of today’s society. Sr. Leeza and Tr. Sophy prepared a short quiz to review the life of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello with a brief history of their lives and their mission accomplished. Teachers were touched by Don Bosco’s words: “For you I study, for you I work, for you I live, for you I am ready even to give my life". Their mission is continued today by the Salesian Priests and Sisters. The role of a Salesian Educator was prepared by Sr. Ched and Tr. Muny combining the mission and vision of the school. In the afternoon session the Preventive System of Don Bosco was presented by Sr. MyHanh and Tr. Chakrya. And the end of the day, the practical living of Salesian Assistance was stressed by Sr. Maria and Tr. Eng. The Educators expressed their gratitude as they revisited the origins of our Charism
Our second day was the core of our mission spirituality – SYS/SYM shared by Sr. Neath and Tr. Savet. The teachers were pleased that they understood better their role as Educator and play their part in the various school activities and their commitment to it. To reach our main goal of Good, honest and active citizens, we introduced the “Together, We CAN” project prepared by Sr. Ophriini and Tr. Manuth. The four strategies of Feel, Imagine, Act and Share was well accepted by the group. The teachers were able to grasp the importance of working out a project through a virtue especially that of using virtue language “Respect for Self, Others and Environment.
Thus implementing the strategies together with Virtue language the teachers came up with a commitment as “Save our Common Home – No Plastic in our environment for we respect ourselves, others and our Mother Earth”. Thus in the Educational Spirit and charism of our mission, the Educators of our schools are committed to live and work implementing “Together, We Can”. Some comments from our Teachers “Since it is in Salesian style, we really like mission of Don Bosco school to educate the young to active and honest citizen, where students are our protagonists”. They would like to carry with them: “Be the role model to the young, Commit to Salesian assistance and Project We Can”.  The Youth Ministry Team will monitor the commitment with mid-term evaluation.
